This was very interesting because I never knew there were restrictions in the city as to when and where you are allowed to shoot. As a filmmaker this is important because even in the film industry there are restrictions, and I will have to learn how to manage my time wisely to be successful since they can only shoot at a certain time, they need to balance their time. A question this raises is why is the city of Los Angeles so strict when it comes to holidays?

Film Restrictions
Los Angeles seems to be the only city to have restrictions for filmmakers when it comes to long holidays. During the months of November and December, many parts of the cities will be restricted to filmmakers for 6 weeks, which begins on November 23 and will continue up to January 2. The city's film permit office, FilmLa, is urging the filmmakers to plan their shoots after 9 PM during those 6 weeks of restrictions. A film office official from Miami, where they are even allowed to shoot on Christmas Day said," Wow! That's a long time." Janis Burklund, Dallas Film Commissioner, stated," I'm glad we don't have that. That would be a killer." They have no film restrictions for any holidays in her city.

Thor 3 Featuring Hulk?
Marvel Studios and Mark Ruffalo are close to completing a deal so that he can play Hulk in the new upcoming film, "Thor: Ragnarok" which would be the third film of the Thor series with Chris Hemsworth. The release date for Thor has been set by Disney and it is being released on November 3, 2017. The sequel to Thor, released in November 2013 and directed by Alan Taylor, made $644.8 million, and the first film made $449.3 million, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh.
This article was interesting for me because I'm interested in Marvel movies and to have Thor and Hulk in the same movie other than The Avengers would be pretty cool. As a consumer I think this will definitely help the film make more money because people are going to be more intrigued because of the fact that Hulk is also starring in the film. I'm sure many people are starting to wonder when the green giant will get his own movie.

New 007 Agent?
This new upcoming film, Spectre might be the last time Daniel Craig plays Agent 007. Craig said, "I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists," he continued, saying, " No, not at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on." When asked if that meant he was never playing Bond again he replied, "I haven't given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don't want to think about it. I don't know what the next step is. I've no idea." Spectre will be launched by Sony Pictures and MGM on October 26 in the UK. Both MGM and Sony Pictures declined to comment. However, Craig still has one more Bond film left in his contract. The actor got hurt during the film, he underwent knee surgery in April.
This article caught my attention because I have always seen the James bond films and Daniel Craig is almost like the face of the franchise and it's hard to imagine someone else as James Bond. This impacts me as a filmmaker because it seems like he will not continue to be in the films because of the injury he got while on the set, as a director you need to try your best to prevent incidents like this. A good question to ask is who will be the next James Bond.

Sony Is Dealing With Lustig and Thornton
Sony just made another pitch deal with Ben Lustig and Jake Thornton after having a one million dollar deal with the studio last year, they are currently making another deal for a new pitch. The idea is described as a "heist with elements of fantasy," but the full story isn't being revealed yet. Bryan Singer will be director and producer, while Andrew Lazar will be producer, along with Jason Taylor from Singer's Bad Hat Harry Productions. Ange Gianetti was the executive who brought the project into Sony. Mad Chance has produced many films, including American Sniper from Clint Eastwood, which has made $547.3 million at the worldwide box office. It has also the produced the comedy Get Smart, which has earned $230.6 million at the worldwide box office.
This article was interesting to me because these writers are coming off a really big deal, and getting another big deal just a year later. This impacts me as a filmmaker because it shows me how important it is to write and create stories just as it is important to be working with the camera or editing, it's where it all begins. A question this raises is how good these films are actually going to be, many people have high expectations for the films.

The Return of Brian Williams
Brian Williams, an anchor at MSNBC, was suspended a few months ago for telling false Iraq War story on air NBCU did nothing to promote his return from his months-long suspension, but when people heard about his return, his viewer numbers went up. Andy Lack, the NBC News chief, said Williams' return was a strategy to get their viewer ratings up and also a long term investment for the company. On September 23rd, Williams' anchored from 3:30-5:50 PM and got nearly 600k viewers, some people argue that it is because of the Pope Francis story, because of that people are mocking him on Twitter with #BrianWilliamsPopeStories.
This article caught my attention because I thought that people would not want to watch Brian Williams again because of how he terribly lied and you never really know when he will do it again. This impacts me as a consumer because I watch the news to keep up with local and national events, and I think that Brian Williams isn't really a reliable source anymore, although it was a smart way for MSNBC to get higher viewer ratings. A question this raises for the industry is will his career last long?

The Dolans, Who Built the Cablevision Empire, Are Now Leaving
The Dolan family is the family that made one of America's cable fortunes, which began with 1,500 subscribers in Long Island over 40 years ago. On Thursday, the Dolan family settled to sell the company Cablevision, the cable television company that Charles F. Dolan started 42 years ago. The company was sold to Altice, a European media company, for $17 billion, including debt; the family sounded forlorn about the deal. "Since Charles Dolan founded Cablevision in 1973, the Dolan family has been honored to help sheperd our customers and employees through the most extraordinary communications revolution in modern history," James L. Dolan, Charles Dolan's son, stated. "Now, nearly half a century later, the time is right for new ownership of Cablevision and its considerable assets." The Dolans were a family that established themselves as a pioneer in the cable industry in the 1950s. The sale to Altice values the Dolan's collective stake in Cablevision at about $2.2 billion. The company has about 3 million customers in the Northeast, it hasn't really had the best customer satisfaction, they earned a mediocre customer satisfaction rating in a survey last year, although it has been the source of cable television and Internet for many in the tristate area. However, the family isn't leaving entirely, they still have control of the Knicks and the Rangers, the Madison Square Garden, and AMC Networks, the home of "The Walking Dead" and other successful shows.
What caught my attention about this article is that the company made a lot of money off this deal, they even got rid of their debts because that was part of the deal, their debts were passed on to Altice. This impacts me as a student and a filmmaker because Charles Dolan's company wasn't always in a good condition but he kept persisting and eventually became a very successful company. A question this raises for the company is if Altice will improve the company from when the Dolan family had control of it.

Hulu Becoming a Bigger Competition For Netflix
Hulu Making Smart Moves
Now that Netflix announced that it will not renew its deal with Epix, Hulu quickly announced its deal with Epix. People subscribed to Hulu will now gain movie access to movies and not only TV shows, Hulu will have access to movies from Paramount, MGM, and Lionsgate, which are the studios that own Epix. This deal will officially begin on October 1st. This is now making Hulu an even bigger competition for Netflix. "It's a huge deal for us... Obviously this is a big move for us in the movie market and really substantially increases the slate we have in our library. And it's certainly not the last movie deal you are going to hear from us. We're going to continue to invest a lot of money in programming." Eric Craiger, Hulu's head of content, told The Times in a phone interview. Ted Sarandos, Netflix content chief, stated in a blog post that the company had chose not to renew the Epix deal because it is veering away from nonexclusive content.
This specific article seemed very interesting because Hulu is known for having only TV shows, but with this deal it will become even more popular. This will also hurt Netflix as a business because Hulu is now slowly turning almost exactly like Netflix. Hulu is really making smart business decisions, I'm sure it will definitely gain customers off of this deal.
This will impact me as a consumer because I am currently subscribed to both services and with this deal I might as well just let go of Netflix and subscribe only to Hulu if they're nearly the same thing. A question this raises is what is going to be the next move for Netflix? Will this hurt Netflix as a business or improve it?

News Crew Shot to Death on TV Live
Alison Parker, the reporter, was only 24 years old and Adam Ward, the cameraman, was only 27 years old when Vester Lee Flanagan shot and killed both of them on air. Vester Lee Flanagan, also known as Bryce Williams, used to be a reporter for the same news channel. Flanagan left the scene and officials were able to catch up to him, but his vehicle went off the highway and crashed. Officials discovered he had a bullet wound which is inferred to be self-inflicted. Flanagan also thought that Parker was racist, that might have been the motive, but officials are still unsure.

This article caught my attention because the shooting was live on television and this story is interesting because the shooter used to be a reporter for that same news channel
