Alison Parker, the reporter, was only 24 years old and Adam Ward, the cameraman, was only 27 years old when Vester Lee Flanagan shot and killed both of them on air. Vester Lee Flanagan, also known as Bryce Williams, used to be a reporter for the same news channel. Flanagan left the scene and officials were able to catch up to him, but his vehicle went off the highway and crashed. Officials discovered he had a bullet wound which is inferred to be self-inflicted. Flanagan also thought that Parker was racist, that might have been the motive, but officials are still unsure.
